It's the first time it's ever happened in the history of the Mario Lemieux Foundation.
Mario Lemieux announced Tuesday that he will match donations to the Foundation, up to $500,000.
“I established the Lemieux Foundation to provide hope to those who need extra strength in their darkest moments,” said Mario Lemieux. “In the days of COVID-19, Nathalie and I recognize the responsibility to do our part, which is why we will match donations to the Lemieux Foundation during this holiday season.”
Since its inception, the Lemieux Foundation has donated more than $31 million for cancer research and patient care.
