Mars Area High School is taking precautions after a reported bomb threat.
Mars Superintendent Dr. Mark Gross says the district was made aware of the threat early Tuesday afternoon.
Dr. Gross says the threat, written on a wall in the high school bathroom, references Friday, October 16.
“Upon notification of this threat, the District immediately contacted Adams Township Police Department and is taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff,” Dr. Gross said in a message. “As a precautionary measure, law enforcement personnel, accompanied by bomb dogs, will conduct a sweep of the building this afternoon.”
Increased security will be in place, including additional sweeps of the building, throughout the rest of the week.
