One of the WPIAL's most successful basketball coaches is stepping away - citing parents as one of the main reasons.
Mars girls’ basketball coach Dana Petruska won 518 games and spent 27 years with the Fighting Planets.
She told the district she's retiring last week, but in a new article from Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Petruska said dealing with parents is getting worse.
“Parents aren’t afraid to do it out and in front at a game or anything and they go right to the athletic director, the superintendent and the school board,” said White.
White spoke to the Big K Morning Show and said parent-coach relationships have always been difficult, but there are some differences in recent years.
Petruska admitted to being old school, telling White her biggest fault was truthfulness.
She said she was yelled at during games and parents would confront her about their child’s playing time.
