Injured Karns City quarterback Mason Martin celebrated his 18th birthday while rehabbing from a serious brain bleed he suffered during a game at the beginning of September.

Marin’s father Denny says while it was a special day, it was a difficult day for his son.

“He spent most of his birthday in discomfort,” Martin wrote.

But he did get to be around those he loves.

“He was still able to spend the day filled with friends and family. I wasn’t able to read any cards to him because I didn’t want to disturb him. I will have my work cut out for me the next few days but every card and social media post or comment will be read to him.”

Denny says there haven’t been many updates since a week ago, but Mason was able to make it outside one day last week and he was able to ride around on a tricycle, with assistance, on Friday.

Martin says he hopes the discomfort is from Mason working his legs during the ride.

Denny also took time in his update to thank a doctor who has been important in Mason’s rehabilitation.

Those who want to help the Martin family financially can continue to do so through GoFundMe.
