The owner of a well-known Downtown restaurant is considering a move because of crime and drug use at his doorstep, but that may no longer be necessary.

Wiener World owner Denny Scott said Mayor Ed Gainey came to his business Thursday with a couple of high ranking police officers.

On the Big K Morning Show, Scott said the mayor "really seemed interested" in doing something about drugs and crime in the Golden Triangle.

“I got to give him a lot of props for that because the last administration basically told us if we don’t like it, leave,” said Scott.

Press Secretary Maria Montano says the mayor is "committed to a solid policing presence."

“I think our plan downtown we rolled out does that, calling for tripling the number of officers downtown,” said Montano

She says that will beginning in the next couple of weeks.

Scott was told by police drug arrests started last week on Liberty Avenue.
