Police in McCandless are in mourning after the passing of their K9 officer over the weekend.
Siraly was “battling a serious health condition over the past few months.”
That condition got “significantly” worse last week with Sirlay ultimately succumbing to his illness.
Officer Sean Davis, his handler, continued to work while also caring for Sirlay.
“Siraly was loyal, fierce and a great protector, especially to me. He was an all-business dog that was bred for police work,” said Davis.
“Officer Davis handled this extraordinarily difficult situation with the utmost professionalism and compassion, and our condolences are with him in this trying time,” McCandless Police wrote in a Facebook post.
