By a vote of five to three with one abstention, the McKeesport Area School Board accepted the resignation of football coach Matt Miller.
This comes amid controversy over the church where Miller's father is the pastor, with some former members calling the church a cult.
An assistant coach and a member of the booster club who are of the church served as character witnesses in the murder trial of Isaac Smith.
He was convicted of killing the daughter of former McKeesport and NFL player Brandon short.
Matt Miller had served as McKeesport’s coach since 2016.
