McKeesport on a 2-hour-delay Tuesday due to Steelers playoff game

McKeesport students, staff, and families are getting a special green light to cheer on the Steelers Monday night, and still make it to class tomorrow.

Officials say all McKeesport Area School District schools and offices will open two hours late on Tuesday because of the Steelers playoff game.

In a statement to KDKA Radio, Superintendent Don McFann acknowledged the district’s love for the team but said the delay balances fun with responsibility.

He said, “We’d rather students miss a few minutes of instruction than an entire day, while also allowing families to enjoy the game without the morning rush.”

Officials are encouraging staff, students, and families to cheer on the Steelers tonight, and be ready for school tomorrow.
