This Memorial Day weekend will be a time for travel, a time for family gatherings at cookouts and a time to relax. But this weekend is more than that.
Memorial Day is a federal holiday to honor American military personnel who died while serving in the Armed Forces. It is a day for visiting cemeteries and memorials for the 1.3 million service members who died in the line of duty.
At least 13 service members have died during Operation Epic Fury in Iran.
This weekend we ask that you pay tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives to keep our lives safe and free. This is the time to put aside your political differences and remember those who have died in combat so we can continue to be the land of the free and home of the brave.
