Tire shops are seeing a sharp increase in flat tires in the Tarentum area.
They're pulling metal shards from tires picked up on Routes 28, 908 and Freeport Road.
Highland Tire posted on Facebook they’ve dealt with over two dozen flat tires in one day.
Highland Tire has two locations in Natrona Heights and one in Tarentum.
The tire shop says they’ve especially seen issues near the Walmart in Harrison Township.
PennDOT sent a broom truck to sweep the areas around a scrap metal business and will do the same along Routes 28, 908 and Freeport Road.
