Inclines are one of Pittsburgh's iconic symbols. Unfortunately, the Mon Incline has been out of service often in the last couple of years.
Pittsburgh Regional Transit is doing something about it.
The PRT spent $8.2 million dollars in August of 2022 to upgrade the operation.
After the reopening in March of 2023, there have been several closures including the current interruption of service which started on March 5.
PRT CEO Katherine Kelleman says they're going to add a 3rd party consultant to remain transparent and to be proactive.
“We want to make sure that for the businesses which are impacted and the neighborhoods that are impacted that they get to be right at the front and get this information and participate and ask their questions and bring up their suggestion and ask, why aren’t you doing X,Y,Z,” said Kelleman.
Kelleman says they hope to have the Mon Incline operational again very soon.
