The Monongahela Incline will remain closed through the weekend after it closed down due earlier this week.
Pittsburgh Regional Transit says there are several electrical and mechanical issues and shut it down Tuesday night until further notice.
Repairs begin Wednesday morning and shuttle buses are in service between the upper and lower stations.
“PRT is working with its contractors to ensure the 152-year-old incline is functioning properly and safely before it reopens,” a spokesperson for PRT said. “There is not yet a timeline for when that could occur.”
PRT adds that the issues are covered under the existing contract of the rehabilitation project that shut the incline from August 2022 through March 2023.
