After it was closed for over a month, the Monongahela Incline will reopen early Saturday Morning.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit says the funicular will reopen at 5:30 a.m.

The incline closed in early January due to an electrical and mechanical systems failure.

The incline passed an inspection by the PA Department of Labor & Industry on Friday afternoon.

The 154-year-old incline underwent a 10 month, $8.2 million August 2022 to March 2023.

PRT says the repairs from the project will not cost the county anything since the repairs are covered under the contract from the rehab project.

The closure frustrated businesses and people that take the incline from Mount Washington frequently.
