The Moon Area School Board voted last night to close Hyde Elementary.
The vote was 5-4, indicating strong opposition.
Administrators have said closing Hyde will save the district money.
It was built in the 1950s and has not had major renovations.
District leaders estimate upgrades and adding more teachers at Hyde would have cost about $10 million.
The closure will happen in the 2025-26 school year.
