Speaking one-on-one with KDKA Radio’s Josh Rowntree after he spoke with his supporters, Moreno said of his hopes for Gainey as mayor, “I hope he doesn’t defund the police further than they already have, I hope he clears out the corruption in the police department.”

Moreno didn’t explain what Gainey could’ve done to prompt the possibility of being arrested, but has in the past called out Gainey, claiming he has misused campaign funds.

Gainey defeated Moreno on Tuesday night with Gainey holding a 70.67 percent to 28.53 percent lead as of Wednesday afternoon with 96.52 percent of precincts reporting.

Moreno also said in his speech to supporters that “the outcome of this seems clear,” but has yet to concede to Gainey.

He added he will congratulate him “when it’s time.”

In a speech to supporters Moreno said the result of the election "seems clear” but also said he had yet to concede to Gainey and will congratulate him, in his words, “when it’s time.”

Gainey will become the first Black executive in the city’s history.
