O'Connor says city wasn't consulted on Wallen cancelation

Pittsburgh's Headlines: June 8, 2026

Pittsburgh's mayor is pushing back on claims tied to Morgan Wallen's Pittsburgh's concert cancellation due to forecasts of bad weather.

In an Instagram Story posted after the cancellation, Morgan Wallen said his team advised him to call off the Pittsburgh show after consulting with local officials.

But Mayor Corey O'Connor tells KDKA Radio that's not how the decision unfolded.

“There was no contact to Public Safety or my administration so however the artist and his team picked to not have the show, that was on them, there was no consulting for Public Safety or the City of Pittsburgh,” said O’Connor.

O'Connor adds that, based on what he's heard, Acrisure Stadium officials were not notified of the cancellation in advance either.

“If you’re going to say that you consulted . . . that’s one story, we, again, had no record of that from public safety director, all the way down,” added O’Connor.

The sudden cancellation caused issues for many fans that had already parked and planned for an afternoon and evening on the North Shore.

While the forecast called for possible storms and caused damage in other areas of Southwestern PA, the greater Pittsburgh area didn't see any substantial ran after a system moved through Saturday afternoon, hours before the planned show.
