Mother 'forcefully' throws 1-year-old daughter to ground Downtown

Police are investigating after a child was thrown to the ground during a dispute between parents Thursday afternoon.

Pittsburgh Police and Allegheny Sheriff’s officers responded to the Municipal Court Building in the 600 block of First Avenue around 12:30 p.m. for reports of a parental dispute.

During the argument between the mother and father, an infant, around 1-and-a-half years old was “forcefully” thrown to the ground by the mother before she fled the scene.

Pittsburgh EMS treated the baby and it was determined she was not injured.

The child is being released into the father’s custody.

The Sheriff’s Office will take over the investigation and are expected to file charges against the mother.

According to multiple reports, the mother may have been stopped by police in the Robinson Township area after fleeing the scene.
