Mount Washington Transit Tunnel reopening on Christmas Day

The Mount Washington Transit Tunnel is set to reopen on Christmas Day.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit spokesman Adam Brandolph says, they are aware of the feeling by many who live in Allentown, who want the temporary service that has been serving that neighborhood since February to become permanent.

He says they're going to conduct a study to determine its viability.

“We don’t necessarily know what the study is going to say but we look forward to talking both with the community about that as well as the transit consultants that we’ll be hiring on for the project,” said Brandolph.

The tunnel was originally supposed scheduled to reopen in October.
