The world-famous prognosticator predicted an early spring this past Groundhog Day.

Other than a week-long cold snap, Phil was pretty spot on.

The annual tradition of Groundhog Day goes back to 1887 when a group of hunters called “The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club” said that Phil was the “one-and-only weather prognosticating groundhog.”

According to Pennsylvania Department of Tourism, over 30,000 people celebrate the prognostication with millions tuning into the livestream.

Groundhog Day has become a big source of income for local businesses in Punxsutawney and Pennsylvania.
