Names of two local police officers added to National Law Enforcement Memorial

The names of two fallen police officers from the Pittsburgh area were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. Monday night.

Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire and McKeesport Police Officer Sean Sluganski were honored during the 36th annual candlelight vigil.

Both officers were shot and killed in the line of duty early last year.

McIntire was killed in the line of duty on January 2, 2023 while chasing a suspect.

He was a police officer for 22 years and was named Chief of Police in 2019.

McIntire left behind a wife and four children.

“Slug” as he was affectionally known, was shot while responding to a domestic call on February 6, 2023.

He’s survived by his fiancé, daughter, mother Terri and other family members

He spent three years with the McKeesport Police Department and before that was an officer with Charleroi Regional Police.
