Some Pittsburgh viewers may miss NBC Nightly News tonight due to a channel dispute between Verizon and Cox.
NBC Nightly News, part of the network’s “Reporting for America” campaign, is bringing its broadcast to Pittsburgh at 6:30 pm.
The program, which has recently averaged over six million viewers nightly, will cover national stories, but for Verizon FiOS customers, Channel 11 is currently unavailable.
The blackout comes after Verizon and WPXI’s parent company, Cox Media Group, have been unable to reach a new retransmission agreement.
The company says it’s working to resolve the dispute, but in the meantime, viewers may miss both the live national broadcast and other local news, and sports coverage.
There's no word yet on when service will be restored.
