
Nearly 20 people with warrants for their arrest have been taken into custody after the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office cleared over two dozen bench warrants.

The sweep was conducted Wednesdsay in McKees Rocks and Stowe Township, due to a recent increase in violence.
Among those arrested are 20-year-old Jymere Murphy and 21-year-old Brenden Whitely, both of McKees Rocks.
Murphy is facing trial on charges of simple assault and strangulation. Whitely is on probation from a 2019 gun case.
Also, two stolen vehicles were found during the sweep.
The unoccupied vehicles include a gray Toyota Corolla, involved in a carjacking in Pittsburgh last September
The Sheriff’s Office says a number of outstanding warrants remain.
Officers from the Allegheny County Housing Authority Police, the PA Office of the Attorney General, McKees Rocks and Stowe Township Police and the FBI assisted the Sheriff’s Office in the sweep.
