New food market coming to Sharpsburg in early 2026

Harvest on Main will be opening early next year, providing an oasis is what is otherwise a food desert.

Bonnie DeMotte is the Executive Director of Second Harvest, which will operate the grocery store.

“Envision a full-service, small scale grocery store so, fresh produce, deli, meats, cheese, grocery staples, baked goods, prepared foods, just on a smaller, neighborhood scale.

She says for many in Sharpsburg, they don't have easy access to a supermarket, and often need to take several buses to get to one.

The nonprofit's thrift store has been cash flow positive since the beginning and they're working on their capital campaign, expecting this store will do the same.

The grocery store is at the sign of the former Brother Tom's Bakery.
