New medical drama 'THE PITT', based in Pittsburgh coming to MAX

A new medical drama from the people that brought you “ER”, based in Pittsburgh, is coming to streaming service MAX.

“THE PITT” will star ER actor Noah Wyle, who will return to the medical television genre.

The showrunner is R. Scott Gemmill, who also worked with Wyle on “ER”. He also worked on “JAG” and “NCIS: Los Angeles”.

All three will serve as executive producers of show that will have an initial 15 episodes.

Carnegie Mellon University graduate John Wells, who also worked “ER” is attached to the project.

“THE PITT” “is a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh,” a press release from MAX read.

“We are grateful to Warner Bros. Television and Max for giving us this opportunity to return to the world of urban medicine,” Wyle and the other executive producers said in a statement. “The myriad of challenges facing the doctors, nurses, technicians, patients, and their families who work in the trenches of modern medicine have become only more pronounced in the decade and a half since we last visited their stories. We’re thrilled to be able to return to this world with the support of our partners and are looking forward to pushing the boundaries of dramatic realism and medical accuracy in following the lives of these heroic men and women.”

A city known for its medical advances vibrant industry, Pittsburgh is the perfect setting for a how revolving around healthcare professionals.
