A new football field for kids is being build at Hazelwood Green thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The state-of-the-art community field and youth-recreation complex will be operated by Steelers Charities and the there will be Steelers branding throughout the complex.

Current and former Steelers, along with coaches, will help fun clinics. There will also be boys and girls flag football, soccer, and indoor sports in a 10,000 square-foot building that will be renovated to be used year-round.

Along with the Steelers, Tishman Speyer and the Richard King Mellon Foundation are involved in the project.

The field will be in Hazelwood at the Green’s southeast entrance on Hazelwood Avenue between Gloster and Tecumseh Streets.

The site of the former LTV Steel mill is across the Monongahela River from the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

Construction begins next year with a grand opening date set for 2025.
