VisitPITTSBURGH: don't be afraid to come to the NFL Draft

Draft preparations on the North Shore

KDKA Radio

If you’re nervous about coming into town for the NFL Draft next week, VisitPITTSBURGH’s President and CEO Jerad Bachar says don't be.

Bachar tells The Big K Morning Show the expected 700,000 people, that’s over three days, not all in one day.

“If you think of just a few weeks ago when we had the St. Patrick’s Day parade that was somewhere between two and three hundred thousand people for that, so this is basically the St. Patrick’s Day parade three days in-a-row,” said Bachar.

“We got plenty of space on the North Side, Downtown, plenty of space to expand out,” added Bachar.

But, parking will be limited and expensive, so visitors are encouraged to take public transportation, ride-share and taxis services.

Also, there will be several road closures around the event, making it hard to get around.

He tells the Big K Morning Show the Draft is not just a celebration of football, but also a celebration of Pittsburgh.

Bachar says the hype around the draft is real, with over 4 billion impressions on social media about the event in Pittsburgh.

He adds the draft brings a financial benefit along with PR and civic benefits (road and sidewalk improvements, Art’s landing renovations), investments and more.

Bachar say you’ll want to be in the area to experience the “wow” moments planned for the Draft.
