Beginning next week, New Castle Area High School students will have to comply with a new cellphone policy.

There will be no phones allowed in the class room and students will be required to turn them in before the start of each class.

The students will need to put them in a "caddy" during class time.

They will be able to use the devices between classes and at lunch.

New Castle Superintendent Rick Rossi tells Robert Mangino on KDKA Radio he's done his research regarding the issue of cell phone in the class room.

"I think I've come up with a solution that's a midway point something that gives the students the responsibility to keep their phone, but on the other hand, put more emphasis for our educators in the classroom for teaching and learning," said Rossi.

Cell phones can be a distraction for educators while they are teaching lessons.
