The Norwin School District has closed schools for grades K-4 after it had implemented a modified lockdown Monday morning when they were informed of a police incident taking place along Crestwood Drive.

The school district went into lockdown shortly after 8am.

Just before 10am, the district closed the K-4 schools because of the "continueing community threat."

In a Facebook post, the district said "Teachers will update Google Classroom with today’s assignments. Hillcrest & Middle School will continue in Modified Lockdown (no one may enter or leave building until lockdown is lifted)."

North Huntington police are asking people to avoid the area of Laurel and Crestwood.
