A Norwin elementary school was on modified lock down and dismissal at Stewartsville Elementary was delayed due to police activity in the area.
KDKA-TV is reporting that shots were fired at the nearby Huntingdon Inn Motel while they were serving a warrant.
Officials used social media to warn residents to avoid that area near
Route 30.
Police say the suspect was wounded and reportedly died at the scene.
Police are clearing the area and the lock down has been lifted.
Students were running about half an hour behind schedule.
