Allegheny County Controller and mayoral candidate Corey O'Connor is calling for an investigation into Mayor Ed Gainey's re-election campaign. O'Connor tells the Big K Morning Show that the Gainey campaign is breaking the law by coordinating with an outside PAC organization.

“Him and ‘Working Families’, who are on his actual payroll . . . if you wanted to coordinate a meeting with the mayor, you have to go through ‘Working Families’. That’s against the law.”

O’Connor says it needs to be looked at.

“That is coercion with your outside c-4 and independent expenditure. You are not allowed to do that by election law and yet, the mayor’s been doing it the entire time,” said O’Connor.

KDKA Radio reached out to the Gainey campaign for a response.

Marco Attisano, Counsel for Gainey for Mayor, released the following statement:

" Like all Democratic campaigns, the Gainey campaign receives supports from many unions, community organizations, and political allies. All of that support is done in full compliance with local, state and federal campaign finance laws.
This is how every Democratic campaign - from governor to president - runs its operations.”
