Pennsylvania State Police in Indiana County are investigating a shooting involving an Indiana Borough Police Officer.
Troopers say officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call on North Cherry Avenue.
That's when the male suspect threatened the officer with a shovel.
A foot pursuit ensued and the officer was able to catch up with the suspect, who then allegedly stabbed the officer with a knife multiple times in the head and face area.
During the struggle, the officer discharged their duty pistol, striking and fatally wounding the suspect.
The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The injured officer was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
