One of the major takeaways from Wednesday's 6-hour standoff in Garfield was that despite the fact that thousands of shots were fired during the ordeal, no one was hit or killed in the incident.

On the Big K Morning Show, Police Union President Bob Schwartzwalder credits the officers training.

"We've modified a lot of our methodologies over the past 20-25 years and that's probably why it was a strong testament to the officer's training and experience that prevented any serious injuries to any of them."

The law enforcement officers involved in neutralizing the Garfield gunman have the backing of the police union leader.

The president of the FOP says the officers involved in the six-hour gun battle on Broad Street did the right thing when took out the shooter. On the Big K Morning Show, Bob Schwartzwelder also talked about a decision that will stay with the officers the rest of their lives.

"There's none of them in my entire career that I've ever met or myself included that finds great joy or thinks that this is something to be taken lightly."

William Hardison, the man involved in the standoff, had been living in the home he was being evicted from without paying rent for five months. Deputies were there to serve the notice when the gunfire started.
