Without going into specifics, Pennsylvania's attorney general says attempts to fraudulently register voters have been stopped.

Attorney General Michelle Henry says this involves cases in Berks, Lancaster, Monroe and York Counties.

In a statement, she says she's working with officials in each of those counties to investigate what happened.

She says the investigation focuses on registration forms and not ballots and won't get into what she calls "sensitive information” about the investigation.

Henry says the fact the apparent attempted fraud has come to light shows the state's safeguards are working.

Earlier this week, former President Donald Trump posted to social media, claiming that “Pennsylvania is cheating, and getting caught, at large scale levels rarely seen before.”

The Republican presidential candidate’s claims were refuted by Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro.

“Republican and Democratic clerks of elections are doing their jobs here in Pennsylvania – and together with law enforcement, they’re making sure only eligible voters are able to register and vote,” said Shapiro on “X”.

Social media has become a hotbed for false claims of voter fraud, including immigrants being bused into polling places, including in Allegheny County.

Video posted earlier this week claimed that “buses” of people that needed an English translator at the South Part Satellite Election Office.

Allegheny County’s Division of Elections says a “group of voters” showed up at the office last Saturday to apply for mail in ballots.

The County’s statement said, in part:

The County employee provided instructions that elderly and disabled people were allowed to sit while they waited for their applications to process (as County employees had allowed for any elderly or disabled voter who was attempting to vote at any of our Satellite Offices). The able-bodied voters returned to the back of the line, elderly and disabled voters were permitted to sit and wait their turn, and those who needed the assistance of a translator were able to use their translator to help them through the process.

The deadline to register to vote was October 21. Therefore, any individual who requested a mail-in ballot this past weekend only would have been given a ballot if they were already registered. Only US Citizens may register to vote.

Norm Eisen with the bipartisan group Democracy Defenders tells The Big K Morning Show, “

“Everyone in the state, all your listeners, can be confident that their vote can be safely cast and freely and fairly counted,” said Eisen.

Eisen adds that there are several safe-guards in place to ensure that wide-spread voter fraud is not committed.

“It’s backed up, not only be laws that protect that, but also by our state and local election officials, the folks who administer these elections,” said Eisen. “They’re experienced, they’re tough, they went through a lot in the stress of 2020 and other contests and they’ll make sure the voting works.”

Eisen adds that the several layers of protection include local, county, state and federal officials.
