Ohio couple faces construction fraud in Westmoreland County

A couple in Ohio is accused of home improvement fraud on at least two customers in Westmoreland County.

The Westmoreland Co. District Attorney’s office says Brandi and Ray Tanner of ABG Construction also face deceptive business practices charges after the incidents.

Earlier this month, a woman told Allegheny Township Police that she hired ABG Construction to fix a roof and provided two checks that totaled over $12,330 for materials and a deposit to the company out of Kent, Ohio.

The victim says Brandi Tanner asked for another $4,000 to pay their employees but the victims refused.

A relative of the victim also hired ABG Construction to repair a roof and they told police the couple allegedly made a comment that if they didn’t pay for part of the work in cash, he would take their vehicle as compensation.

The second victim never heard bad from the Tanners and work was never completed.

Police used license plate readers to determine that the Tanners were at the victims’ homes on the dates provided.
