Herb Douglas, the oldest living U.S. Olympic medalist, died Saturday at 101.
Douglas, a Pitt graduate, was a track and field legend who won a bronze medal in the long jump competition at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London.
University Chancellor Mark Nordenberg was Paul Zeiss' guest on NewsRadio KDKA:
"We're talking about an extraordinary man who led an extraordinary life", he says. "But he also had a determined sense of purpose. He always seemed to be involved in another project that was going to contribute to the greater good".
Douglas was inducted into the Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
