Over 50 Pittsburgh-area Rite Aid locations now set to close

The number of Rite Aid locations set to close has expanded significantly, with locations all around the Pittsburgh area on the chopping block after the Pennsylvania-based pharmacy declared bankruptcy for a second time earlier this month.

According to Reuters, a fire sale of Rite Aid assets to companies like CVS, Walgreens and Giant Eagle, among others, has been approved.

According to report, Giant Eagle has acquired some of Rite Aid’s assets, but it’s not yet known what that means for customers.

A worker at Rite Aid in Kennedy Township confirms their location will close, but didn’t know the exact date yet.
