Updated list shows only two Pittsburgh Starbucks locations closing

A crowd-sourced list originally showed over a dozen closures

UPDATE: A new list shows only two Pittsburgh Starbucks locations closing. The coffee giant has said the closures will start to be reflected on its app beginning this weekend.

Thank you to Scott Aber for bringing this update to our attention.

Starbucks announced Thursday it would be closing about 1 percent of their stores across the United States and Canada.

According to an unofficial Google Sheet, the closures will affect at least two locations in the Pittsburgh area.

According to an updated but unofficial Google sheet, the following locations are supposedly set to close:

South Side – East Carson Street
Lawrenceville – Butler Street

Those closures are not official with Starbucks telling USA Today the closures will begin to be seen on the Starbucks app beginning Sunday, September 28.

In a letter, CEO Brian Niccol said workers at stores being closed will be notified this week along with 900 others whose jobs are being eliminated.

Those 900 jobs are “current non-retail partner roles.”

Niccol says they will work to transfer as many workers at closing stores to other locations as possible.

“During the review, we identified coffeehouses where we’re unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don’t see a path to financial performance, and these locations will be closed,” said Niccol.

The public updated Google Sheet can be found here.
