Pennsylvania's Attorney General is warning people about sophisticated scammers placing fake rental ads and altering ads to get personal information, security deposits and rent payments.
AG Michelle Henry says one red flag is a landlord who refuses to meet in person and show the property.
Henry also advises against wiring application fees, a security deposit, or first month’s rent.
Do not purchase gift cards for payment and do not provide your Social Security number without verifying the identity of the person you're dealing with.
