A potential record-breaking fish was recently caught in a Pittsburgh river.
Reddi Bait in Bridgewater says a Channel catfish caught by Dave Taylor, near downtown Pittsburgh weights 36.15 pounds
The current record in Pennsylvania for a channel catfish is 35.3 pounds.
“Not only a true giant, but one of those river monsters you hear about, said Tim Reddinger of Reddi Bait. “But this one's for real.”
The fish was reportedly caught near the Hot Metal Bridge in the Monongahela River over the weekend.
The cannel cat is 42 inches long with a girth of 26 inches.
The fish still needs to be certified by the PA Fish Commission.
The current record-holding fish was caught all the way back in 1991 in the Lehigh Canal in Northampton County.
