New data from the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs shows overdose deaths are trending downward statewide.

Officials point to expanded access to naloxone as a key factor.

Between October 2024 and September 2025, more than 824,000 doses were distributed, leading to over 11,400 reported overdose reversals.

The state also distributed hundreds of thousands of fentanyl and xylazine test strips.

Final overdose death totals for 2025 are still pending, but officials say prevention efforts are making a measurable impact statewide.
