A Pennsylvania Lottery winner's decision to not buy a drink turning into a brand-new car!
Jodie Kavka, a recent breast cancer survivor, was given the keys of a 2024 Ford Bronco at Kenny Ross Ford South in Library Road after winning the top prize on the Keys and Cash Scratch-Off game.
“I was going to the mall to buy clothes for my son. My family was going to the beach for vacation the next day,” said Kavka of the shopping trip she was on the day she purchased her winning ticket. “I stay home every year to take care of my elderly mom.”
She said she was looking to get a drink, so she stopped at the GetGo location in Monroeville but when the saw the fountain drink area was busy, she spent her money elsewhere.
“People were at the drinking fountain, so I put my $5 bill in the Lottery machine next to it,” said Kavka. “I’m so grateful! I’m a recent breast cancer survivor and we were just talking about selling our second car before it breaks down to get some house repairs done.”
That $5 turned into a new Ford Bronco!
“Congratulations to Jodie. We’re thrilled to help her celebrate her big win and make sure that she has the keys to her new vehicle in time for the holiday season,” said Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne. “It’s loyal players like Jodie who help the Pennsylvania Lottery continue supporting programs for older Pennsylvanians that make a real difference all across Pennsylvania.”
