The legal battle over the state's controversial mask mandate for schools goes before Pennsylvania Supreme Court Wednesday.

Some parents and Republican lawmakers sued to end the policy and succeeded in Commonwealth Court. The Wolf administration appealed and now the state's high court will hear arguments.

A ruling from the justices won't have much impact, since Governor Wolf announced the mandate is expiring on January 17.

In November, a 4-to-1 opinion issued by Commonwealth Judge Christine Cannon ruled the mask order was void from the beginning and unenforceable due to Acting Health Secretary Alison Beam's use of procedures to issue the mandate was improper.
