Turnpike officials are warning EZ-Pass users about a "smishing scam."
Urgent text messages from "Pennsylvania Turnpike Toll Services" notify users of additional charges if supposedly overdue payments aren't made.
The Turnpike is telling EZ-Pass customers who get an unexpected text, don't click on the link.
The text says, in part, “To avoid additional charges of $86.00 please settle your balance of $8.60 at (scam website link).”
