A new Pennsylvania law targeting potentially harmful products takes effect today, with enforcement beginning statewide.
Attorney General Dave Sunday says his office has been preparing businesses and consumers to comply with Act 57 which is designed to keep potentially harmful products out of the hands of children and adults who may not know what they're consuming.
“Many of these products, which have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration are produced in China, with little concern for the health and safety of the people who use them,” said AG Sunday. “That concerns me and it should concern parents, families and all consumers.”
Sunday says only products on the registry, maintained and updated monthly by the PA Attorney General’s office, can be sold.
There is a $500 civil fine for each unlisted vape product that is listed for sale with higher fines for repeat violators.
Some of the banned items include Geek Bar, RAZ, Lost Mary and more.
Vapes like Juul, Alto, Logic, ACE and NJOY are among the approved brands.
