A key Schenley Park bridge is back in business, it closed down nearly two years ago.
Mayor Corey O’Connor and city officials cut the ribbon on the Panther Hollow Bridge Thursday, marking the completion of a major restoration project.
“On behalf of everybody, I’m excited to announce that tomorrow, at 7 a.m., the bridge is going to open,” said Mayor O’Connor, thanking the crews for their hard work and residents for their patience.
O'Connor says getting the project done was important not only for drivers, but for preserving the Panther Hollow Bridge for years to come.
“This is a gateway into the East End, into Greenfield, into Squirrel Hill, this is something that is a major road artery that we need, especially when the Charles Anderson Bridge is being worked on over the next couple of years as well,” said O’Connor.
The Panther Hollow Bridge has been closed since October 2024 after inspectors found issues.
Repairs began this past January.
