The Commercial Street Bridge over the Parkway East was imploded Thursday morning.
It was fast, and over almost as quickly as it began.
After a countdown, a powerful series of explosions sent shockwaves through the area as the Commercial Street Bridge buckled and collapsed.
Huge sections of concrete and steel came crashing down, sending a massive cloud of dust into the air.
The demolition marks a major milestone in PennDOT's $95 million bridge replacement project.
Now crews will focus on removing the debris so construction of the new bridge can move ahead.
The Parkway East remains closed, and drivers are urged to follow posted detours and allow extra travel time.
