The reopening of the Parkway East amid the replacement of the Commercial Street Bridge is on track for an "early opening."
That's the word from PennDOT at a news conference Mondaymorning.
PennDOT District 11 Executive Director Jason Zang said they expect the roadway to reopen in the middle of next week, give or take a day and weather conditions.
Commercial Street is expected to reopen on August 3.
On Sunday, crews began sliding the new Commercial Street Bridge into place after demolishing the old one last week.
The project has forced the complete closure of the Parkway East from the Squirrel Hill Tunnel to Edgewood/Swissvale.
The complete closure now prevents a years-long project on the Parkway.
