PennDOT is making final preparations ahead of this weekend's closure of the Parkway East.
As crews prepare for the Parkway East closure, PennDOT is making changes to detour routes to keep traffic moving.
That includes adjusting lanes on Ardmore Boulevard in Wilkinsburg and retiming signals along the detour through Wilkinsburg, Point Breeze and Oakland.
Officials say they’ll continue monitoring traffic and making adjustments once the closure begins.
PennDOT is also working with Pittsburgh Regional Transit and Pittsburgh Water to clear construction impacts along the route ahead of the Commercial Street Bridge Replacement project.
The 25-day Parkway East closure between the Edgewood/Swissvale interchange and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel runs from July 10 through August 3.
Commercial Street/Forward Avenue and Nine Mile Run Trail under the Parkway East closed last week and will remain shut down through early August.
