Josh Shapiro had a productive and positive week as Pennsylvania's new governor.
His administration announced Monday a commitment from Norfolk Southern to spend millions to replace damaged fire equipment, and compensate business owners and residents affected by the railroad's toxic derailment.
Mr. Shapiro, along with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, responded to the disaster when national leaders were AWOL.
On Tuesday, the governor delivered his first budget proposal to state lawmakers, telling them, "we can do big things together if we just work again together."
A response from an Allegheny County Republican is hopeful.
In a statement, Representative Valerie Gaydos suggests opening "lines of communication" and working with her "colleagues and the governor" on the budget.
THAT would be a welcome change.
