A group of seven Allegheny County Council members released a letter Wednesday morning saying they will support a motion to remove Pat Catena as Council President at Council's May 26 meeting.
A group of activists had called on Catena to resign last night following a controversial flier sent out by his campaign for a State House seat that mentioned his opponent getting the backing of those who support transgender athletes in women's sports.
One speaker called the mailer “transphobic”.
The letter is signed by Jordan Botta, Dan Grzybeck, Bethany Hallam, Paul Klein, Kathleen Madonna-Emmerling, Alex Rose and Lissa Geiger Shulman.
Catena said after the meeting that he would not resign.
The primary election for that State House race is next Tuesday.
